Sarina Dahlan is an American author born into an Indonesian family in Thailand who immigrated to the United States at age twelve; she holds degrees in psychology and visual arts from the University of California, San Diego, and has worked as an advertising producer and corporate marketing strategist. She debuted with the science fiction romance Reset (2021), opening the Four Cities series set in a society that erases its citizens' memories every few years to prevent conflict, which became an Amazon bestseller and was selected for Tor.com's best books of the year. She continued the trilogy with Preset (2023), praised by fellow novelist David Brin, and completed it with Freeset (2024). Dahlan has also published short fiction, winning the 2021 San Diego Decameron Project prize for "An Echo in the Vine." She lives in San Diego with her family and describes herself as a writer shaped by travel and place.
