Scott Hawkins

Scott Hawkins is an American novelist whose debut, The Library at Mount Char (2015), established him within contemporary fantasy and horror. Published by Crown Books, the novel follows Carolyn, one of twelve adopted siblings raised under the tutelage of a godlike, often cruel guardian known as Father, who trains them in strange and specialized magics drawn from a vast, otherworldly library; his disappearance sets off a struggle among the siblings and a wider metaphysical reckoning that draws in the U.S. government. The book drew praise for its inventive blend of horror, mythology, and dark humor and built Hawkins a devoted cult following. He returned to fiction after a long gap with the 2026 novel Blacktail.
