Sean McMullen

Sean McMullen (born 1948 in Sale, Victoria) is an Australian science fiction and fantasy author whose work blends hard-science rigor with sweeping, imaginative world-building. He is best known for the Greatwinter sequence -- Souls in the Great Machine, The Miocene Arrow, and Eyes of the Calculor -- set in a post-apocalyptic Australia ruled by a room-sized human computer, and for the adventure-fantasy Moonworlds Saga, including Voyage of the Shadowmoon and Glass Dragons. His other novels include The Centurion's Empire and the climate-themed Generation Nemesis (2022). A former scientist and musician, McMullen has published over a hundred stories and more than two dozen books, winning multiple Ditmar and Aurealis Awards and Analog Readers' Awards, and was a Hugo Award finalist for the novelette "Eight Miles." He also co-authored the reference work Strange Constellations: A History of Australian Science Fiction.
