Sean Monaghan

Sean Monaghan is a New Zealand science fiction and fantasy writer known for prolific short fiction as well as several ongoing series. His short story "Crimson Birds of Small Miracles" won both the Sir Julius Vogel Award and the Asimov's Readers' Poll Award. Monaghan's novels span multiple series and subgenres: the Captain Arlon Stoddard Adventures and Karnish River Navigations follow deep-space exploration and piracy-tinged science fiction, the Matti-Jay and Dub Adventures continue in a similar vein, and Morgenfeld carries his work into fantasy. He has also written thrillers under the Cole Wright banner and stand-alone romance. Across his large body of work, Monaghan favors fast-paced, plot-driven adventure, moving comfortably between hard science-fiction settings and lighter genre fiction.
