Shonna Slayton is a Canadian author of young-adult fairy-tale retellings. Before writing fiction she worked creating software help files and educational curriculum, later homeschooling her own children using a literature-based approach and running fairy-tale writing workshops in schools and libraries. She is best known for the Fairy-Tale Inheritance series, launched with Cinderella's Dress, which reimagines classic tales, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, the Little Mermaid, through the lens of family heirlooms passed across generations, alongside the companion River Kelpies and Lost Fairy Tales series. She has also written the Lessons from Grimm series, a set of writer's guides that use fairy-tale structure to teach fiction technique to aspiring authors. She continues to publish steadily in the YA fairy-tale space.
