Simon Bestwick

Simon Bestwick is an English horror writer, born in 1974, who graduated from the University of Salford in 1996 with a degree in Media and Performance. He has been nominated for the British Fantasy Award four times, for the novella "The Narrows" (2009), the short story "Dermot" (2012), and both the novel Wolf's Hill and the novella Breakwater (2019). His other novels include Tide of Souls (2009) and The Faceless (2012), alongside contributions to the shared-world Tomes of the Dead series and short-story collections such as Pictures of the Dark and And Cannot Come Again. Fellow horror writer Ramsey Campbell has placed Bestwick within a wave of contemporary British horror authors who use the genre to examine the legacy of Thatcher-era Britain and its aftermath in the decades since. His fiction is known for grounding supernatural dread in bleak, post-industrial English settings.
