Simon Holt

Simon Holt is an American author based in Chicago. His writing career began with a horror fanzine he self-published in high school, and before becoming a full-time novelist he worked as a hostel night clerk and a handbag salesman; he is also a comic-book collector and amateur musician. Holt is best known for The Devouring, a young-adult horror trilogy from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, which follows Reggie, a horror-obsessed teenager who discovers that Vours, soul-stealing creatures summoned only on the winter solstice and called Sorry Night in the books, are real, after she and her best friend Aaron try to conjure one as a dare. The series continues through Soulstice and Fearscape as Reggie's battle against the Vours escalates.
