Sona Charaipotra

Sona Charaipotra is an Indian-American author, journalist, and screenwriter of young-adult fiction. She holds a BA in journalism from Rutgers University, a master's in dramatic writing from NYU, and an MFA in writing for children from The New School, and worked as an editor at People, Teen People, and Parents.com. She co-founded the literary development company CAKE Literary and is a founding board member of the South Asian Journalists Association. With Dhonielle Clayton, she co-created the bestselling Tiny Pretty Things series, following rival students at an elite ballet academy, which was adapted into a Netflix drama in 2020. Her solo novels include Symptoms of a Heartbreak and How Maya Got Fierce. Charaipotra has also served on the board of We Need Diverse Books.
