Sophie Masson

Sophie Masson (born 1959) is a French-Australian author born in Jakarta, Indonesia, who has published more than fifty books spanning fantasy, historical fiction, crime, and romance for children, teens, and adults. She is known for fairy-tale-inspired novels such as Snow, Fire, Sword, which won an Aurealis Award in its young-adult category, and Scarlet in the Snow, as well as the children's fantasy series Thomas Trew and the historical Chronicles of El Jisal. Masson won the New South Wales Premier's Literary Award's Patricia Wrightson Prize in 2011, and in 2019 was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her service to literature as an author and publisher, reflecting a career built on retelling and reimagining traditional stories.
