Stephanie Saulter is a Jamaican-born science fiction writer and geneticist. Educated at MIT in biology and anthropology, she worked for years in urban regeneration and community development in Miami and London before settling in London in 2003. She is best known for the ®Evolution trilogy - Gemsigns, Binary, and Regeneration - near-future novels that draw on her scientific background to examine genetic engineering, prejudice, and the rights of genetically modified "gems" in a post-collapse Britain. Beyond fiction, she has written on science and technology for magazines and served as a judge for literary awards, including Jamaica's Lignum Vitae Writing Awards.
