Stephen Coonts

Stephen Coonts is an American novelist born in 1946 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, and a former U.S. Navy aviator who flew A-6 Intruder jets in Vietnam from the USS Enterprise, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. After earning a law degree and practicing oil-and-gas law, he drew on his flying experience for his 1986 debut Flight of the Intruder, a New York Times bestseller for 28 weeks that was adapted into a 1991 film and launched his long-running Jake Grafton series of military thrillers. In the catalog he appears for the Saucer trilogy (Saucer, Saucer: Savage Planet, Saucer: The Conquest), which shifts from military-technical thriller into science fiction with the discovery of a buried alien spacecraft. Coonts has published sixteen New York Times bestsellers among more than three dozen books.
