Stephen Goldin is an American science fiction writer, born in Philadelphia in 1947, who began publishing short fiction in 1965 and was a Nebula Award finalist for his 1971 story "The Last Ghost." He is best known for the Family D'Alembert series, a space-opera sequence begun as an expansion of an E. E. "Doc" Smith story and continued across ten volumes through Revolt of the Galaxy (1985); in 2010 he returned to the same universe as wholly original work with Agents of ISIS. His other novels include The Eternity Brigade, about mercenaries repeatedly reincarnated into new wars, and the Jade Darcy series co-written with his wife, Mary Mason. He was previously married to fellow science fiction writer Kathleen Sky.
