Steve Rasnic Tem

Steve Rasnic Tem is an American horror author and poet born in 1950 in Jonesville, Virginia. He studied at Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Colorado State University before settling in Colorado, where he married fellow horror writer Melanie Tem in 1974; the couple wrote extensively together until her death in 2015, including the World Fantasy Award-winning novella The Man on the Ceiling. Tem has published hundreds of short stories and novels across a five-decade career, including Deadfall Hotel, Ubo, and Blood Kin, and the collections City Fishing and Celestial Inventories. His work is often compared to Kafka, Bradbury, and Raymond Carver for its blend of the surreal and the intimately domestic. He received the Horror Writers Association's Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
