Sunyi Dean

Sunyi Dean is a speculative fiction author born in Denton, Texas, and raised in Hong Kong, who now lives in a Yorkshire cottage in England. Her debut novel, The Book Eaters, blends horror and gothic elements in a secret society whose members literally consume books to survive, and became a Sunday Times bestseller. She followed it with The Girl with a Thousand Faces, a novel inspired in part by her own upbringing: her old high school once stood as a mission house on the edge of Hong Kong's historic Walled City, and her grandparents survived the Japanese occupation during the Second World War. Beyond fiction, Dean co-founded the Hugo-nominated Publishing Rodeo Podcast, which examines the book industry from a working author's perspective.
