Susan Dexter

Susan Dexter is an American fantasy author who has worked over the years as a librarian, teacher, and writer, based in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She began publishing fantasy novels in the early 1980s, including the Calandran Novels and the Warhorse of Estragon and Winter King's War sequences, traditional quest fantasies centered on wizards, sorcery, and journeys through richly imagined kingdoms. Her novel The Wizard's Shadow was included among the New York Public Library's "Books for the Teen Age" list in 1993. Dexter received the Lawrence County Open Arts Show's Merit Award in 1976 and its Distinguished Award in both 1982 and 1983, recognition from early in her writing career. Her book sales allowed her to buy and restore the vintage house in New Castle where she still lives.
