Susan Grant

Susan Grant is an American author of romance and science fiction, born in 1954 in Boston. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy's third class to admit women, she trained as a T-37 flight instructor and later flew T-43 aircraft as a command pilot before her 1989 discharge, after which she became a commercial pilot for United Airlines flying Boeing 737s, 747s, and 777s. Grant drew directly on that aviation background for her science-fiction romance, most notably the Star King Universe and Star King Trilogy, and the recurring character Banzai Maguire. Her novel Contact won the 2003 RITA Award from Romance Writers of America, and she has received multiple further RITA nominations. Across six main series and numerous standalones, her fiction consistently pairs military and flight-crew professionalism with romance and space-opera adventure.
