Tamzin Merchant

Tamzin Merchant is a British actress and author born March 4, 1987, in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, who studied English and Drama with Education at Homerton College, Cambridge. Known for acting roles including Georgiana Darcy in Pride & Prejudice (2005), Catherine Howard in The Tudors, Anne Hale in Salem, and Imogen Spurnrose in Carnival Row, she also filmed an unaired Game of Thrones pilot as Daenerys Targaryen before the role was recast. Merchant turned to children's fiction with The Hatmakers (2021), a steampunk-inflected adventure about a family of magical milliners, continuing the series through The Mapmakers and The Troublemakers. Her books combine whimsical invented-world adventure with richly detailed craft-based magic systems, drawing on her visual and storytelling background from screen acting.
