Tara K. Harper

Tara K. Harper is an American science-fiction and fantasy author, born in 1961 in Portland, Oregon. She is best known for the Wolfwalker novels (Tales of the Wolves), a series that follows telepathically wolf-bonded protagonists across a wilderness world, beginning with Wolfwalker (1990) and continuing through Shadow Leader, Grayheart, Storm Runner, and other volumes. Harper's fiction blends genetic and psychic themes with survivalist wilderness adventure, exploring bonds between humans and wolves shaped by inherited abilities and environmental pressure. She has also written the shorter Cat Scratch Fever series. Published steadily through the 1990s and early 2000s, her novels remain a touchstone within animal-telepathy science fantasy.
