Taran Matharu

Taran Matharu is a fantasy author born in 1990. He is best known for the Summoner series, beginning with The Novice (2015), which follows a young apprentice who can summon and bind demons in a world of magical academies and warring kingdoms, and which became a New York Times bestseller. He continued the world with the Contender series and, more recently, The Soulbound Saga, beginning with The Battlemage (2017) and continuing through The Outcast, The Inquisition, and The Champion. His novels are noted for blending progression-style magic systems with military fantasy worldbuilding, and have found a wide young-adult and crossover adult readership.
