Thea Harrison is an American author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, best known for the Elder Races series, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling saga of shapeshifters, wizards, and vampires that opened with Dragon Bound and grew to nine novels alongside numerous novellas collected as The Elder Races Novellas. Dragon Bound won the 2012 RITA Award for Best Paranormal Romance. Harrison has continued the evolving mythology with the Moonshadow series and the two-book A Game of Shadows, and has explored contemporary fantasy in American Witch and epic fantasy in The Chronicles of Rhyacia. Earlier in her career she wrote category romance for Harlequin Mills & Boon under the pen name Amanda Carpenter. Harrison announced a writing hiatus for health reasons in 2021.
