Thomas Harlan

Thomas Harlan is an American writer and wargame designer born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1964. He writes primarily fantasy and science fiction and is known for the Oath of Empire tetralogy, an alternate-history fantasy series opening with The Shadow of Ararat, and for the In the Time of the Sixth Sun sequence, a far-future space opera premised on an alternate history in which Aztec and Japanese civilizations, having made contact centuries earlier, expand together into the galaxy, beginning with Wasteland of Flint. His science-fiction novels were built to interlock with the GURPS tabletop role-playing system, reflecting his design background, and both series are noted for dense, meticulous world-building centered on empire, conquest, and interstellar military conflict.
