Tim Waggoner

Tim Waggoner is an American writer of horror, fantasy, and thriller fiction, born in 1964. He teaches creative writing and composition as a professor of English at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, and has taught in Seton Hill University's low-residency MFA program in writing popular fiction. He is best known for the urban fantasy Nekropolis series, following private investigator Matt Richter through a city of monsters, and for tie-in novelizations of films including Terrifier 2 and the X trilogy, as well as the Ghost Trackers series co-written with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. Waggoner has won the Bram Stoker Award three times—for The Winter Box, and for his nonfiction guides Writing in the Dark and Speaking of Horror—and received the 2025 Scribe Award for Best Adapted Novel for Terrifier 2.
