Tom Toner

Tom Toner is a British science fiction author born in Somerset in 1986. He is best known for the Amaranthine Spectrum, a far-future space opera trilogy comprising The Promise of the Child (2015), The Tropic of Eternity (2018), and The Weight of the World (2017), set among an archipelago of terraformed worlds and Dyson spheres populated by posthuman empires. Reviewers have placed the series within the tradition of Widescreen Baroque space opera, drawing stylistic comparisons to Jack Vance. Toner continued the sequence with a fourth novel, The Immeasurable Heaven (2025), published under the pen name Caspar Geon. His writing is noted for dense invented history and ornate, imagistic prose exploring civilizations vastly removed from the present-day human condition.
