Tony DiTerlizzi

Tony DiTerlizzi (born 1969) is an American illustrator and author who began his career in fantasy gaming art, notably for Magic: The Gathering and the Planescape setting for Dungeons & Dragons, work later credited with reshaping the visual style of fantasy role-playing games. He moved into children's and middle-grade literature, co-creating The Spiderwick Chronicles with author Holly Black (2003–2004), an illustrated fantasy series translated into some thirty languages and adapted into a 2008 film and a 2024 television series. He later wrote and illustrated the WondLa trilogy, a bestselling science fiction series for young readers adapted as an animated series for Apple TV+ in 2024. DiTerlizzi won a Caldecott Honor in 2003 for his illustrated edition of E. B. White's story "The Spider and the Fly." He lives in Amherst, Massachusetts.
