Tracey Baptiste

Tracey Baptiste is an American author of children's and middle-grade fiction, born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, in 1972, and raised from her teens in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for The Jumbies trilogy, a horror-adventure series drawing on Caribbean folklore that follows a girl confronting supernatural creatures from Trinidadian legend across The Jumbies, Rise of the Jumbies, and The Jumbie God's Revenge. She has also written Minecraft tie-in fiction for the game's official novel line and the contemporary middle-grade series Boy 2.0. A former elementary school teacher and textbook editor, Baptiste now teaches in the creative writing MFA program at Lesley University and lives in New Jersey; her fiction often centers Caribbean cultural traditions and stories passed through oral tradition.
