Trang Thanh Tran

Trang Thanh Tran is a Vietnamese American author of young adult horror. Raised in Philadelphia and later in a small town in southern Louisiana, the child of Vietnamese boat-people refugees, Tran studied sociology and public health before turning to fiction. Their debut novel, She Is a Haunting (2023), follows a teenager visiting her estranged father in Vietnam who begins experiencing supernatural occurrences in his crumbling family home; it won the 2023 Bram Stoker Award for Best Young Adult Novel, became a New York Times bestseller, and was a William C. Morris Award finalist. Tran's second novel, They Bloom at Night (2025), centers on a coastal town threatened by a sinister algae bloom and was nominated for the Lodestar Award and the Ignyte Award for Outstanding Novel, Young Adult. Tran lives in Atlanta.
