Una McCormack

Una McCormack, born on 13 January 1972 in St Helens, Merseyside, is a British-Irish academic, scriptwriter, and novelist. She holds a BA from Newnham College, Cambridge, an MSc from the University of Reading, and a PhD in sociology from the University of Surrey, and previously taught creative writing at Anglia Ruskin University, where she co-directed the Centre for Science Fiction and Fantasy. McCormack is best known for tie-in fiction across major franchises, including ten Star Trek novels spanning Deep Space Nine, Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds, four Doctor Who novels for the New Series Adventures, and prose for Firefly and Torchwood. Her 2024 Star Trek novel Asylum won the Scribe Award for Best Original Speculative Fiction, and her novelization The Robot Revolution won the 2026 BSFA Award for Best Fiction for Younger Readers.
