Victor Gischler is an American author and comics writer who holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. He first made his name in crime fiction, earning an Edgar Award nomination for his debut, Gun Monkeys, and an Anthony Award nomination for Shotgun Opera; Gun Monkeys was later adapted into the film Fast Charlie, directed by Philip Noyce. Alongside his crime novels, Gischler writes comic-inflected genre fiction and epic fantasy, including the Ink Mage series -- beginning with the title novel and continuing through The Tattooed Duchess and A Painted Goddess -- and the pulpy apocalyptic comedy Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse. He has also written extensively for Marvel Comics, scripting Deadpool, Wolverine, X-Men, and Punisher titles, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Conan comics for other publishers.
