W. J. May is a Canadian author of young adult paranormal romance and fantasy, born in 1975. She grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario, in St. Catharines, and was a competitive high jumper who represented Canada internationally, broke the country's junior high jump record, competed for the University of Toronto and Kansas State University, and became an NCAA All-American. She met her husband, a distance runner from Liverpool, while competing at Kansas State. A USA Today bestselling author, she writes prolifically across series including The Chronicles of Kerrigan, Mending Magic, and Royal Factions, and her newer Celtic-inspired fantasy trilogy begins with Whispers in Stone.
