Warren Hammond

Warren Hammond is an American science fiction author known for gritty, noir-inflected stories set on troubled worlds. His KOP series, beginning with KOP (2007) and continuing through Ex-KOP, KOP Killer, and KOPS, follows a corrupt police detective on the colony planet Lagarto as he wrestles with his own compromises while trying to do some good, blending hardboiled crime plotting with far-future world-building. Hammond later created the Denver Moon series (Tides of Maritinia, The Minds of Mars, The Saint of Mars, The Thirteen of Mars), a planetary-adventure serial about a private investigator working the Martian frontier. Across both series, Hammond favors morally compromised protagonists and richly imagined, decaying societies over conventional space-opera heroics, earning a devoted following among readers of character-driven, noir science fiction.
