William Meikle is a Scottish writer of horror and fantasy, born in 1958 and now based in a small fishing town in rural Newfoundland, Canada. He left other work to write full-time in 2007 and has since become remarkably prolific, publishing more than thirty novels and over three hundred short stories in the horror and fantasy small press. His fiction draws openly on the monster movies, Doctor Who, and Hammer Horror of his childhood, and he is best known for creature-feature series such as S-Squad, which has run to twenty volumes pitting a team of Scottish soldiers against giant monsters in the vein of Dog Soldiers and Aliens. He also writes Carnacki and Sherlock Holmes pastiches and the Sigils and Totems occult-detective series.
