Z. A. Recht

Z. A. Recht (1983-2009) was an American writer of apocalyptic zombie fiction, born in Bunker Hill, West Virginia. He is the author of The Morningstar Strain, a military-focused zombie-outbreak trilogy that began with Plague of the Dead and continued with Thunder and Ashes, following soldiers, journalists, and civilians as a fast-moving pandemic collapses order across the country. Recht wrote the first two volumes himself; he died in 2009 at the age of twenty-six, and the concluding novel, Survivors, was completed and published after his death to close out the trilogy he had begun. His work belongs to the wave of military-themed zombie-outbreak fiction that emerged in American genre publishing during the 2000s.
