Edgar Rice Burroughs · 3 novels · 1918
Edgar Rice Burroughs's Caspak trilogy follows the crew of a torpedoed U-boat who discover Caprona, a hidden Pacific island where prehistoric creatures and early hominids exist side by side in successive stages of evolution. The Land That Time Forgot introduces the castaways and the island's strange biology; The People That Time Forgot and Out of Time's Abyss follow later expeditions sent to find survivors. Written in 1918, it's one of Burroughs's lesser-known lost-world adventures outside his Tarzan and Barsoom books.
