Nantucket

S. M. Stirling's Nantucket trilogy begins when the island of Nantucket and a nearby Coast Guard vessel are thrown back to the Bronze Age, circa 1250 BC, by a mysterious event, forcing its modern inhabitants to survive and rebuild using contemporary knowledge in a world of Bronze Age peoples. Island in the Sea of Time follows harbormaster-turned-leader Jared Cofflin and ship's captain Marian Alston as they organize the islanders' survival and begin trading and allying with local Bronze Age civilizations, while the antagonist William Walker flees to Greece to build his own power base. Against the Tide of Years and On the Oceans of Eternity continue the widening conflict between the islanders and Walker's rival empire, in a series that also set up Stirling's later Emberverse.
