The Red Queen's War
Mark Lawrence · 3 novels · 1 novella · 1 short story · 2014–2020
The Red Queen's War follows Prince Jalan Kendeth, a cowardly, charming minor royal from Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire world, dragged unwillingly across the continent alongside the fearsome Norse warrior Snorri ver Snagason on a quest neither of them really wants. It leans into dark comedy and reluctant heroism as a counterpoint to the grimmer tone of the earlier Broken Empire trilogy set in the same shattered post-apocalyptic Europe. The trilogy runs from Prince of Fools through two further novels.
