A Good Day to Die

Captain Klag takes command of the Klingon warship I.K.S. Gorkon and sets out to expand the Empire the old-fashioned way: through conquest. When his crew discovers the warrior culture of the Children of San-Tarah, Klag proposes a wager instead of a slaughter — a series of martial contests that will decide whether the newcomers join the Empire or are left alone forever. First in the I.K.S. Gorkon series, it follows Klingon shipboard life from the other side of the bridge.
