Years after Hester and Tom Natsworthy settled down, their teenage daughter Wren is kidnapped and sold to the raft-city of Brighton, where warlord Wolf Kobold puts her to work stealing an ancient superweapon called ODIN from the archive she's trapped in. With the fanatical Green Storm also hunting the weapon and Wren caught between them, Tom and Hester are forced out of retirement and back into the traction-city world they had hoped they'd left behind for good.
