The violent revolution presented at the end of {{A|Richard Michaelis}}'s novel "Looking Further Forward: An Answer to Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy" becomes Julian West's nightmare, and so never happened. West learns that the janitor he has been talking to is wrong on all points, and a debate between a supporter and a skeptic of the future society ends with Bellamy's utopia triumphant.
