Mary Poppins in the Park

Structured as a string of stand-alone afternoons rather than one continuous story, each chapter begins and ends at the same spot in Cherry Tree Lane's park, where Mary Poppins leads Jane, Michael, the twins, and baby Annabel Banks into some extraordinary detour hidden just past the ordinary path. The park becomes less a setting than a threshold, opening onto a different marvel every time the children think they know what to expect from it.
