This novella takes place shortly after the events of The Brightest Fell and is narrated by April O'Leary, the Dryad/cyborg Countess of Tamed Lightning. April's adopted mother Li Qin comes up with a way to "raise the dead" - reuniting the severed bodies and souls of the victims from A Local Habitation (October Daye #2). But bringing back her other mother, January O'Leary, might be impossible...or is it?
