Ron Oberth's convictions about the evils of work have given him a lucrative income, albeit a rather risky one. As a pusher in an Auckland drug ring, he gets to do all the things he's best at – making money, sleeping in, punching people, and riding fast motorbikes. But other people want some of the action as well, lured by the easy money to be made out of a successful operation, and that is when Oberth starts getting into trouble. A high-risk operation in Northland finds him off-loading drugs from a ship – and inadvertently importing foot and mouth disease as well. As the area is swamped by police and the military in a massive effort to contain the plague, Oberth goes deeper and deeper into hiding. But the organisation is looking for its shipment of heroin...
