The Descent of Anansi

A space station in Earth orbit attempting to develop an independent economy manufactures a nanofilament for a Japanese company, but while transporting it from orbit to the Earth's surface, their shuttle is sabotaged and a "rescue mission" is launched from Brazil to hijack it for a Brazilian company.
