The Dracula Tape

Recorded onto a tape left for a young couple to find, Dracula tells his own version of the events in Bram Stoker's novel, the same nights, the same deaths, but narrated by a man who insists the record has been badly slandered by the people who claimed to hunt him. Saberhagen reframes vampirism as neither purely monstrous nor purely romantic, giving his Count the standing to argue, chapter by chapter, that Stoker's heroes got the story wrong. The book that launched Saberhagen's long-running reinterpretation of the Dracula myth from the vampire's own point of view.
