A short prequel piece explaining how John Pritkin, the fire mage of Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer series, came to own the centuries-old house he still lives in, tracing its history back to a purchase near Stratford-upon-Avon sometime in the mid-to-late 1800s. Written in answer to a fan's question about the house's age, it's a small, spoiler-light glimpse into Pritkin's very long life before Cassie ever meets him.
