Matt Mantrell, the protagonist of "Her Majesty's Wizard", takes an oath to "kick that Ibilian monster-monarch off his throne or die trying". Apparently someone takes this oath seriously and he finds himself in Ibile with no choice but to overthrow the king or be killed by him.
