The Sellsword

Vanderjack is a battle-scarred mercenary with a haunted sword and debts he can't outrun, hired to slip behind enemy lines and rescue a nobleman's daughter from territory the Red Dragonarmy has seized. His rescue draws him into the wider fight to free the nation of Nordmaar, in the opening volume of the Anvil of Time series, which sends a Chronicler back through Krynn's past to recover the stories history left out.
