From the back cover of the Avon Eos first edition: It's the twenty-first century, and gambling is illegal everywhere on Earth. But the casino owners have found a new oasis for vice of every kind: the Moon, and after a devastating turf war six mob families reign supreme. Moonbase Vegas, their sprawling, laser-lit, metropolis has become a mecca for wheelers and dealers, movers and shakers - and an ambitious bagman named Deuce McNamara. All but engaged to the daughter of his Don, yet in love with a ravishing showgirl, Deuce is no stranger to risk and chance. He sees his latest opportunity to dance with Lady Luck when Hunter Castle, a wealthy Southerner, arrives on the Moon in his fabled ship, Gambler's Star. The powerful Earthsider announces plans to open a new casino, and the six families elect Deuce to stop him. He sets out to spy for the families, as well as for his Don, for Castle, and for himself, but the stakes rise rapidly and Deuce finds himself caught up in a mob war in the making. As the angles he's playing start to multiply, squeezing him ever tighter, Deuce comes to realize this war is not just about gambling. It's not just about Moonbase Vegas. It's about controlling the Moon itself.
