The Slow Mutants

Roland and Jake descend beneath the mountains into a maze of rail tunnels, riding a hand-cranked cart through the dark while degenerate things that were once human stalk the tracks around them — a passage that pushes what Roland is willing to sacrifice for the boy to its limit.
