The Variable Man

In the distant future, amid a century-long war with Proxima Centauri, humans have come to rely on a machine that gives odds of a human victory, as it is continuously being fed data of the current situation. Once the odds are finally in their favour, and humans prepare for an all-out offensive, a time bubble accidentally returns with a man from the past. This incident confuses the machines and odds are no longer given. This man from the past is the variable man.
