The only hope for humanity rests in the hands of Lieutenant Janet Rogerton of the New Victorian Empire as she and the Guardians chase the criminal Galen Bestmarke through space and time. Bestmarke is a time-traveling villain who doesn't respect life or the sovereignty of the New Victorian Empire, a government that rose after Earthlings nearly destroyed themselves in the 21st century. Now that possibility threatens once again. The Empire realizes that they can use Bestmarke's technology to navigate through time in order to save humanity--if they can capture him. As Bestmarke tries to hide in the outer solar system, a frontier for outlaws, it is up to the young and idealistic Rogerton and her dynamic team to find him and save the future--before time runs out.
